from a slow, tired storefront to an editorial fashion experience

A Dubai couture house arrived with two complaints — the store was slow, and the design didn't do the collection justice. We rebuilt the storefront on Shopify: new design, UI/UX pass, real performance work, an AI styling assistant and a proper editorial lookbook.

// the brief "the site is slow, and the design isn't us"

two complaints. one full rebuild.

Botsi is a Dubai couture house — every collection handmade, none of it templated. But their storefront was the opposite: a stock theme, sluggish performance, imagery that had nothing to say. The site said "generic Shopify store", the collection said pas deux pareils.

We agreed on the whole picture. Not a patch — a full storefront rebuild with real design work, a performance pass, and a set of storytelling features to match the way the brand actually sells: through emotion, imagery and the ritual of trying a look together.

That meant a new custom Shopify theme, a proper UI/UX overhaul, a lookbook that reads like a magazine spread, and an AI styling assistant that answers the same questions a real Dubai concierge would.

Post-launch we stayed on. The brand keeps launching drops; the store keeps evolving.

// what the rebuild had to solve
  • Make it fast — the reported symptom, non-negotiable
  • Make it Botsi — editorial art direction, not a Shopify preset
  • Make it shoppable — UI/UX rework where it moves the needle
  • Add a stylist — an AI that behaves like a boutique associate
  • Give the collection a room — a lookbook worth lingering in

Left, the tired storefront that arrived on our desk. Right, the editorial rebuild — same catalog, an entirely different feeling. Same platform: Shopify.

// the ai stylist a boutique associate that never clocks out

a boutique associate, on-demand

Shoppers ask questions in the store the way they'd ask them in the flagship. The AI system we integrated answers with looks — not just links.

What it does. The AI is trained on the actual catalog: fabrics, silhouettes, occasion, colorways, price bands. It surfaces looks rather than search results, and it explains its picks in Botsi's voice — not a chatbot's.

Where it lives. Embedded in the storefront so it feels like part of the experience, not a bolted-on widget. It works on product pages, on the lookbook, and as a "help me choose" prompt from the home page.

Why it matters. Luxury fashion is sold through advice. Removing that layer from an online store is a big reason "online feels colder than in-store". Adding it back closes the gap.

  • Trained on the live catalog with attributes and imagery
  • Speaks the brand voice, not a generic assistant tone
  • Recommends outfits, not just products — bundles are natural
  • Falls back gracefully to human support when needed

We shipped a dedicated Lookbook page — an editorial layout that lets each piece breathe, then walks the visitor into the catalog when they're ready.

// the delivery how the rebuild ran

from audit to ongoing

phase 01 · audit

diagnosis

Full audit of the storefront: performance, information architecture, conversion flow, and the gap between the brand's real identity and what the site was saying.

phase 02 · art direction

a new visual language

Editorial art direction built around the collection — typography, imagery hierarchy, tone. The frame in which every future drop would live.

phase 03 · ui/ux

redesign, top to bottom

New home, catalog, product, cart and checkout flows. UX rework where it moved the needle; refinement where the visitor was already loyal.

phase 04 · performance

the speed pass

Custom Shopify theme, critical CSS, image pipeline, third-party diet, storefront speed measured against real-user metrics — not lab-only.

phase 05 · ai stylist

the boutique associate

An AI system trained on the catalog, embedded into the storefront, in Botsi's voice — answering with looks, not links.

phase 06 · lookbook

a room for the collection

A dedicated Lookbook page — editorial layout, art-directed imagery, direct paths into the catalog.

phase 07 · now

ongoing development

We stayed on. Each new drop, campaign or feature is shipped inside the system we built — refinement, not restart.

AI

a boutique associate on-demand

An AI styling assistant trained on the catalog, in Botsi's voice — recommending looks, not links.

a magazine on the storefront

A dedicated editorial lookbook — the collection finally has a room worthy of it, and a path from that room into the shop.
