from magento to shopify — rebuilt from the first sketch

LIVY is a French luxury lingerie house — Calais lace, tech materials, jewel-like architecture. We rebuilt their digital presence from the ground up: platform migration, a new brand book, a full UI/UX and competitor analysis, and the storefront that carries all of it.

// the brief the storefront no longer matched the brand

a full rebuild, done in the right order

LIVY is more than lingerie — a signature that blends 19th-century French craft with modernist architecture, worn like a jewel. The old storefront, on Magento, no longer carried that story. It was slower than the brand deserved, harder to evolve, and it looked like a legacy commerce site rather than a Parisian house.

We didn't retheme. We rebuilt — from a blank page. Before a single component was designed we did a full competitor landscape analysis, then wrote a proper brand book and art direction. From there: UI/UX, wireframes, high-fidelity design, and the platform choice.

The platform choice was ours to make. Given the workflow, the merchandising cadence, and how LIVY sells across markets, Shopify was the right answer. We migrated the catalog, orders and content off Magento, and the new storefront went live.

We didn't stop at launch. Ongoing development and refinement — the way any luxury house maintains a store.

// how the rebuild was sequenced
  • Analysis first — competitor landscape, positioning gaps, opportunity map
  • Brand book — typography, palette, tone, art direction — before pixels
  • UI/UX audit & design — flows, wireframes, high-fidelity, prototypes
  • Platform chosen for the job — Shopify, deliberately, not by default
  • Migration & launch — catalog, orders, content, redirects — all clean
  • Ongoing partnership — the store evolves with the collection
// platform decision we chose shopify — deliberately

from magento to shopify, on purpose

Not by default. We reviewed the operational reality — the way LIVY merchandises, launches capsules, sells across markets — and Shopify was the best fit for the brand's rhythm.

// before

magento

legacy

Slow, harder to evolve, longer release cycles — a platform that fought the brand's cadence rather than serving it.

Before we opened Figma we opened a brand book. Typography, palette, tone, and three cities — Paris, New York, Los Angeles — the three states of mind LIVY dresses.

we studied the field first

Before design started, we mapped the luxury lingerie category — where the established houses live and where the gap for LIVY actually opens.

// positioning map · price × tone (composite of desktop findings)
// heritage · traditional
// modernist · bold
// accessible price
// haute lingerie
the gap — modernist, bold, at haute price · underserved

livy — landed where the map was empty
// ui/ux analysis where attention actually goes

designed around real attention

Flow-first design. We audited the old storefront's real journeys — landing → category → product → checkout — measured the drops, and rebuilt each screen against a specific outcome. UX isn't decoration; it's where revenue goes wrong or right.

Attention over aesthetics alone. Fashion pages are gorgeous by default. Ours are gorgeous and lead the eye where the merchandising wanted it to go — hero, then the featured drop, then the CTA that matters.

Reduced friction. Product filters, size selection, add-to-cart and checkout — each stripped to what a repeat customer needs, without losing the discovery paths a first-time visitor wants.

Repeat visits, respected. The store recognizes the shopper you are — the collection you last browsed, the size you actually wear. Small touches, large effect.

how the rebuild ran

phase 01 · analysis

competitor landscape

Mapped the luxury lingerie category by tone, price and digital sophistication — found the gap where LIVY should land, on paper, before a pixel moved.

phase 02 · brand book

art direction written down

Typography system, palette, tone of voice, motif language — a proper brand book delivered before design started, so every screen would speak the same accent.

phase 03 · ui/ux

audit & redesign

Journey mapping, wireframes, high-fidelity screens and prototypes — each flow rebuilt against a measurable outcome, not just an aesthetic goal.

phase 04 · platform

shopify chosen, then set up

The platform decision, made deliberately: Shopify matched the merchandising cadence, market coverage and evolution rhythm the brand needed. Setup followed the decision.

phase 05 · migration

off magento, cleanly

Data, catalog, customers, orders and content moved from Magento to Shopify. Redirect map preserved SEO across the platform jump.

phase 06 · launch

the store went live

The new storefront replaced the old one — the same brand, finally speaking in its own voice online.

phase 07 · now

ongoing development

We stayed on. Continuous refinement, drops, campaigns and features — the store evolves with the collection.
